Advertising Unit - Summary & Comparison Paper

After you have spent a few class periods working on your ads with your student colleagues and before you turn in the first draft of your Advertising Unit Essay, you will complete a Summary and Comparison Paper.

The first two thirds of your paper should be devoted to describing the most important details of each of your ads. (Include, of course, the product, etc., that each ad is attempting to sell.) Lay out the details of each ad that you believe will be important for supporting what will become your analysis and argument for your essay.

In the last third of your paper provide an interesting initial comparison of your ads. What are their similarities and differences? Why did you decide to analyze and compare these two ads? What do you hope to argue about the ads?

The "Looking at Advertising" handout (see link below) is also a good document to consult in drafting your paper.

Include a Works Cited page with your paper that cites your two ads as sources.

Your Summary and Comparison paper should be approximately three pages in length.

Refer to the Course Schedule for all deadlines and other important information.
